Free entry, live music, spoken word and friendly crowds - hosted by the indeterminable Mr Hovis. On Tuesday evening get yourself to the Half Moon pub in Herne Hill (great pizza), and on Wednesday drop by the Redstar in Camberwell (2-for-1 cocktails).

We saw Nouvelle Vague on South Bank last Sunday, as part of the Coin Street bossa nova festival. They were magical, have an MP3: nouvelle_vague-blue_monday.mp3
Also was pleased to catch Smoke City (who’re now called Zeep) performing Underwater Love. Very apt lyrics for the weather that day!

Yes… it’s now the 10th year of Spike Summer Open Days and again we’ll be showcasing Spike activities. Fun for all kids tall and short.. outside stage with live music from The Pinstickers, Excentral Tempest and Daisy in their new bands, Nouvelle Croix, Rub, Gravy Train, local DJs and more, food, healing, art, a cob oven demonstration with our permaculture specialist and much more. His working process is to reconfigure some of the more abrasive shards of modern classical music. He splices them hard up against an explosive soundbite from metalers Carcass or free-improv from the Derek Bailey school of thought, often parallel mixing these sample arrangements against improvisations record from instrumentalists in his studio.

The Scaredycats played {needleandthread} at Brixton Jamm last Friday, they were (and I’m assuming still are) amazing! Jumparound ska in fine form. I’ll be hassling them for some tracks to post up here.
