Dirtyness at the Jamm
This just in from Mr. Hovis:
Needleandthread presents… {yet another } dirty great big night out..
on Friday, oct 19th, the JAMM, 261 brixton road, has been subverted..
£6 (£5concessions) sees you partying 8pm till 4am.. and for the earlybirds,
its only £4 before nine! BARGAIN!!
Room One..
Cyan341 - Rednetic label boss Mark Streatfield has released numerous EPs and albums on labels such as Boltfish, Kahvi Collective and En:peg under his blissfully sweet glitchy electronica guise Zainetica. Tonight we are lucky to have him perform his more techno based material - deep, soulful, and groove ridden, but with all the electronic frills we’ve come to expect from him.
eN - Founding partner of the No-Test collective and the infamous Erisian Discharge nights, experimental laptop musican eN pairs atmospheric breaks and harsh edited jungle rhythms with washed out synthetic soundscapes to create bass heavy dancefloor killers.
rANdOMoiDz - Dirty shuffling beats chop and change between techno rhythms and wonky breaks, and are guaranteed to make you move. He is founding member of Adverse Camber collective and has relesead on Wrong Music.
Alt*Ctrl djs - Responsible for the renowned audio/visual feasts that were the Alt*Ctrl club nights, these promoters and DJs have played alongside the biggest names in electro and know exactly how to rock a dancefloor.
Patscan - Celebrating the release of his second EP out on Rednetic, Patscan combines complex rythyms and sweet melodies with a definite dancefloor focus.
Uncle Smutfist - Audio pervert Uncle Smutfist has an utterly unique frenzied but playful sound that dances between distorted dubstep and battered breaks.
floating between the rooms, we have live performance pieces throughout the night, from The Great Antagonist, and guests..
Room Two..
ZeJ - live breaks, beats, and bass.. their real power is in their live production and improvisational performance, the duo’s multi-sensory, beat-bending show, combining live electronic drums and bass with effervescent synthesis and live gadgetry, provides an experience impossible to ignore… ”
Red - brixton based multi-vocalist, building his tongue twisting rhythyms into live loops, then turntable-ising the results.. hiphop on the fly..
King Porter Stomp - a dub - ska juggernaut of rhyme and funk on a mission to entertain, enliven and enlighten. The unstoppable octet of big horns, fat beats, heavy bass and conscious minds, were called to Brighton from very different backgrounds and musical persuasions.. Levelling social boundaries, lifting spirits and creating an involuntary bounce to all dance fields and floors they encounter..Bogus Gasman - anarchic dub-core.. punk-laced reggae.. musical mayhem with eight-piece amplification.. what they lack in covers, they make up for in brass, fat old basslines, and guitars that go chk chk chk chk.. put your socks on, mate..
Bunty - one mouth, one mic, one loop station, one delay pedal.. one hell of a show..
dj’s include Mr Hovis, Dj Dark..
