South Bank style, musical Scientologists
The Thames Festival was lovely yesterday, very busy on South Bank but the crowds kept moving. Spent most of the afternoon around the Jive At Oxo stage where Ronnie Scott’s Rejects played an amazing set, finishing with I’m The King of the Swingers / Pink Panther theme / You Give a Little Love. I danced so much that the contents of my pockets went flying (many thanks to the lady who passed my phone back afterwards!).
One slightly creepy note, I discovered that the Jive Aces are all Scientologists and use their gigs to actively promote L. Ron Hubbard’s work/bullshit on Dianetics. They had a stand with flyers, books, DVDs and a very wide-eyed lady who told me about the potential power of the mind. Not what you really want at an event funded by the Mayor of London and the Arts Council. Shame really as they play good tunes, why can’t it just be about the music?
Anyway, off to the ‘bank again today for more jive, some grub and fireworks. Come on daaaawn!
